A Host's job is to make sure that everyone-- the audience, the performers, and even the venue staff-- has a wonderful time.
Pixy Belmont shares over 20 years of experience hosting for The Belmont Burlesque, The Chicago Improv Festival, Windy City Burlesque Festival, ImprovPlayhouse, The Burning City Neo-Vintage Entertainment Festival, and countless other variety, comedy, burlesque, and circus showcases.
You'll walk through a series of exercises to help you discover your hosting persona and style, "read" an audience, and set up each act for success before they're even introduced.
We'll also cover tactics for handling hecklers, 'failed' performances, and on-stage missteps (wait... WHAT just came out of my mouth?!?).
This workshop is not limited to professional/theater hosts, but also recommended for anyone who does a lot of public speaking and/or management-- especially teachers!
